iPad day 2

Today is day 2 with iPad. So far my experience are great. I have a ROM shoot for my friend today which presented an opportunity to test it in the area of photography. I don't have much app installed on my iPad, just a basic photo editing app by the name "PhotoPad". With it I'm able to do editing like cropping, simple color level adjustment, filter effects, etc.

I don't think it can replace a full computing device yet, but as a portable device for on the road usage it is much better than a net book. Ps: to use this as an photo editing device you will need to get the camera connector kit which comes with a sd card reader and a USB port for connection to your camera. Sadly these devices does not work on iPhone.

iPad day 1

After the initial setup and sync and apps installation (an experince that is no different from iPhone, which is a fantastic one by the way) I finally got my iPad with the minimal apps necessary for a test drive. After at least 3hrs of handling the device my initial thoughts are:

1. While it's weight can be felt it is definately not heavy. Just close to a thick hardcover A4 size textbook in terms of weight.

2. The black border around the screen is a very well thought and practical design. Making it very comfortable to hold the device without covering the screen area.

3. Typing on the iPad is a pleasure.

4. iPhone apps on iPad while not displayed in full HD resolution is acceptable especially for games.

5. iPad can connect to any wireless point, too bad Apple restrict apps that turn iPhone into a WiFi spot (no issue if your iPhone is jailbreak). Otherwise you could easily save a couple hundreds and skip the wifi+3G model.

That's all for now, will update more as I try out the iPad in different situations (eg. Meeting, presentation, photography/video editing, etc.).

iPhone

It has been about a month since I got my iPhone. Having used Nokia, Sony Ericsson, Sumsung, Palm, and HTC for the past 8+yrs. I got to say that iPhone does lives up to all the hype and attention that it is drawing. Of cos, it is still not the best phone yet. For one, using the iPhone is really easy. Compared to the other smartphone, I am totally at ease with the iPhone almost instantly. Its apps are also very attractive and useful. Attractive in the sense that downloading apps and discovering them is almost addictive. Thankfully, there is the price factor to slow me down. The apps are practical and useful. I for one especially love the tranSGuide which tells me when the next sbs bus is arriving. Syncing to the mail and calendar is a breeze without the guesswork. Overall, I love my iPhone!

Saving Gaia

It seems that what the scientists are saying is true. The earth is getting warmer with each passing year. I still remember when I was much younger, this period of time will be a time where there is less rain and thus a bit warmer.

Now, I believe all will agree with me, the weather are so much scorching hot in Singapore. The moment you step out, you can feel your pesperation on the skin and the burning heat engulfing you.

Are we too late to do anything? Can we still save Gaia (the earth) as the campagin are going around now? I'm not sure. But I believe we all have the responsibility to do our part to ensure the world is still a liveable plce for our future generations.

So lets start now by recycling a bit more, using less non-recyclable items, and save some electricity and water by being conscious of how we use them. As the saying goes, a little thoughts goes a long way.
